This page is for links to all sorts of people, events and places that we have the privilege of knowing. It's under permanent construction, but will include Morris Teams that we've danced out with, places we've danced at (or will be dancing at) and pubs that serve a good pint and tolerate bad singing and progressively deteriorating box playing as the night goes on. Click on anything with a line underneath it and with any luck you might find out some more.
THE SAIR INN
Our home pub, where you'll find at least some of us every Tuesday evening after practice.
HOLMFIRTH FESTIVAL OF FOLK
A community celebration, not to be confused with the former Holmfirth Folk Festival which has now moved to another site near Holmfirth and has turned into the Shepley Spring Festival. The Festival has just successfully completed it's fouth year under new management, and still has concerts, ceilidhs and sessions in the pubs, and of course Morris dancing (including us) in Holmfirth over FoF weekend, so why not come and join in!
TUNNEL END INN
We dance out here at least once a year, and stay as late as possible to enjoy Bev and Gary's good beer and company.
STOCKPORT MORRIS
Good friends from Stockport, south of Manchester for those who may be further afield. The only side in the north to have a branch office in Rochester. Renowned for their late night (music) sessions.
THE INTERNATIONALLY FAMOUS PEBWORTH MORRIS
From Pebworth, near Evesham. We've spent many happy nights in their company (particularly at the Fleece Inn, Bretforton). One of the few sides that drink more than we do!
MOOR AND COAST FESTIVAL
Takes place every year over May Day weekend. Like most Morris sides we're spoilt for choice when it comes to May Day, but we always enjoy a trip to Whitby.
MAIDS OF THE MILL
The Maids, and Utrecht Morris looked after us on our inaugural tour of Europe (well Holland), and we met up with them again in Bruges when we visited in May 2006.
WRIGLYHEAD MORRIS MEN
Many people who dance with Slubbing Billys also dances with Wrigleyhead.
OAKWORTH VILLAGE MORRIS
Our old (well less of the old...) mates from over the hill (no pun intended) who are often seen in and around Haworth. We join them occasionally to stagger around the village under the influence of our other good friend Timothy Taylor.
THE MAN OF KENT ALE HOUSE
The Man of Kent Ale House is in Rochester, which is (funnily enough) in Kent - not exactly local but it's worth the trip when we join in with the annual Sweeps Festival that takes place every May Day weekend.
GREYSTONES B&B, ROCHESTER
Anyone visiting the Sweeps (or any other event) at Rochester who aren't too keen on camping (aka sleeping outside on the ground and trekking several hundred yards in the cold/rain/dark to the loos and showers) should contact Bill or Bev at Greystones. Apart from being made very comfortable, and very welcome, it's only about 10 minutes walk into the centre of Rochester which solves all the problems of getting into town and back again following a hard days dancing (and who's getting younger....?) However, be quick as we'll be there first!
OPEN MORRIS
One of the organisations that support Morris Dancing Teams nationally providing insurance, information etc. We're a member and so are many of our mates. You can find links to other sides here and all sorts of other Morris type information.
MORRIS FEDERATION
Same as above. There are various benefits to being in both organisations but don't ask me what they are.
David Mallinson
David plays button accordion amaizingly well, show tunes as well as traditional folk music. He sells books on traditional songs and music.
